Who is worthy to open the book

The angels and the elders quickly realized Jesus was the only solution. After the angelic host and the 24 elders considered the qualifications necessary to receive the book and approved Jesus, only then did the Father approve Jesus. Jesus was not His choice, He was their choice. The angels and the elders saw that the task of opening the book determined the necessary qualifications.

In other words, the Father had not written the required qualifications that would eliminate everyone but Jesus. After the Father approved their unanimous choice, He gave Jesus sovereign power over the universe. Daniel ,14; Ephesians ,10 This omnipotent power is represented by the seven horns in Revelation Also, the seven angels who stood before the Father Revelation were also given over to Jesus. These magnificent and capable beings are the same seven angels of the seven churches , the seven trumpets , and the seven bowls.

These seven angels will serve important roles during the seven trumpets and seven bowls. In Revelation , John saw the four living creatures surround Jesus. This change of position indicates that Jesus has authority over the Holy Spirit because Jesus now reigns as Almighty God. My understanding is the four living creatures are a representation of the third member of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit. Four identical living creatures represent one deity because the Holy Spirit is omnipresent.

He lives everywhere, in the north, east, west, and south at the same time. The four living creatures are covered with eyes, representing the power of the Holy Spirit. He sees everything occurring in the universe in real time. When the four creatures surround Jesus, it means the Holy Spirit now connects all creation with Jesus who reigns on the throne as Almighty God.

After Jesus was found worthy to receive the book with seven seals , Heaven responded with joyful singing! The apostle Paul knew a day was coming when Jesus would have authority over everything in Heaven and on Earth.

He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.

Isaiah ,23 Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be , that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come….

Context Crossref Comment Greek. Verse Click for Chapter. English Revised Version And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a great voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? And my blog today has to do with the book of Revelation 5 that only Jesus himself is worthy to look upon and open.

In Revelation 4 and 5, we see an amazing scene in heaven. It is the scene immediately following the letters to the churches, a scene where we see the Lamb of God exalted, praised, in glory, in power, in majesty, in the midst of the throne, on the throne.

It is a pity that most people allegorize away Revelation, they do not receive the special blessing associated with reading and believing the book. The book is closed to them, sealed to them. Because it is the Revelation of Jesus Christ, it is the ultimate book of prophecy, and concludes the Bible.

Jesus says, Surely I come quickly, at the end of the book. The invitation is extended to all human beings to come and take the water of life that he alone can give, and that he gives freely. Will you take of the water of life?

In Revelation 5, we are introduced to a book, it seems a bit random. But when we look back through the Bible, there is always the theme of a book… the book. Perhaps most notably, there is the book of the law that Moses wrote which God told him, and Moses wrote down. There is a book of life in Revelation. The book of Revelation 5 is a sealed book, a book that noone seemingly in existence is able to look upon or open… except one.

Books are used to record things, to record words. God has given us his word so that we all have his word in a tangible, physical sense.

The written word is indisputable evidence, it is our title deed, our will, it is the testament, the testimony of God to man. God had it written down to help us, to guide our paths, to light the darkness, to order our steps, to teach us… if there was no record, how would we know anything for sure?

The book is the recording of all that God has said. We are told in Hebrews that God has spoken at sundry times and in diverse manners. He has recorded his word for us. It is available to all of us. Jesus is the living Word, and the Bible is the written word. What is in the book is final, man cannot add or take away from it, try though he may.

But Satan has tried his utmost… remember the first words he said in Genesis was … Yea hath God said? Satan wants us to both doubt that God has spoken, and dispute, contend and question what he actually has said. Faith is inextricably tied to the word of God, without the word, our faith is destroyed. Jesus said to the devil… It is written. There is a record. The book records the dealings of God with man, and the book is sealed. What is the book? The word of God, the Bible. Jesus said man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Without the book available to us, how could we live by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God? And Jesus lived it, he fulfilled it, he embodied it. His entire life was a fulfilling of the law, of the psalms, of the prophets. He obeyed the word, he obeyed his Father, the Father. He subjected to the word, and so should we. And because of that he was able to mediate a New Testament, based upon his finished work, based upon his blood, based upon the perfect sacrifice of himself, the only sacrifice ever to please and satisfy holy God.

The book has one author, the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the author of our faith. The book delineates between all of the fakes and the Christ. There is a sea of religion, a sea of false Christs, a seemingly unsolvable web of darkness and uncertainty, a labyrinth of vain philosophies and ideas, a sea of men and women who profess their own righteousness and worthiness… but this book divides between One and the rest.

The angel in Revelation held the book and asked who is worthy to open it? And noone was found in heaven, in earth, and under the earth who was worthy to look upon it, much less open it. We are completely unworthy.
