The cameos!! Calmes brought out the big guns with little Easter egg cameos or conversations about previous characters - it was all kinds of awesome! I can't share anything else without spoiling anything, but just know that this is a phenomenal addition to the series!
Hot Damn! That was awesome! Miro and Ian are seriously one of my favorite couples of all time. Love them. I can count on probably one hand the number of "established" couples I am willing to read about, and Miro and Ian are one of them.
I really wish I had gone back and read book 1 and 2 again before starting this one. It took me a minute to get back in to the groove. To remember who is who and what is what. This one was super fast paced. It had some ang 4. It had some angst, but it was the good relationship angst. Not the un-necessary drama kind of angst. It was angst done right. And I sooooo saw view spoiler [Barrett being a bad guy!
That scene where Miro stops by for dinner was just plain weird. View all 24 comments. Reread November I wasn't quite as annoyed this time with them being separated but I still wish they spent more time together because I love them when they are together. Originally read December This one was probably my least favorite so far.
Honestly, I'm tired of Miro and Ian being separated. I hope that in future installments, they will spend the majority of the book together. I didn't see the crazy person coming so I was a bit shocked there. And seriously???? Craig Hartley esca Reread November I wasn't quite as annoyed this time with them being separated but I still wish they spent more time together because I love them when they are together.
I really hope the feds and all aren't that incompetent in real life. Poor Miro. He needs his nightmare gone for good. These two continue to be a favorite couple of mine, I just wish they were actually a couple more. I know I will read more. There's several interesting side characters that could have great stories.
He was actually ruining the book for me and I will not allow that. So I guess I'll just have to go at it the old fashioned way and reread with my eyes instead of my ears to get ready for the fourth book. Have I mentioned how much I love these two?
Cuz I do A LOT! My commute to work just got a whole lot better thanks to this audiobook!! Knew he could take until there was nothing left. I loved all the way; I held nothing back. I was lucky he was the same. Miro and Ian are up there as one of my favorite couples and this third installment just cemented the deal for me.
I'm not going to talk about the plot much because in usual Miro and Ian fashion, there's plenty of twists and turns and surprises. I loved seeing Miro and Ian coming more into their own. Their relationship is shifting and things that were acceptable before aren't as welcome now that they're truly settling down as partners.
And man, I was not expecting all the feels I got when these two were confronting their issues. The love they have for each other is passionate, all-encompassing and soul deep The secondary characters were fantastic The balance between action, suspense, romance and steam was spot on.
And the steam Miro and Ian were the perfect combination of passion, intimacy, lust and love. My skin felt tight, flushed with heat, and I swallowed as the sensations tripped through me, sparking, sizzling, the want rising so fast I almost cried out. And the best news View all 16 comments. This book did not work for me on so many levels, but since not one of my friends gave it less than four stars, it is safe to say that this is totally on me and I love Miro and Ian.
Always have, always will. But I especially love them together and for almost half of the book they were apart, so not even these two could save this book for me. The rest of the story was an endless blah-blah-blah with Okay The rest of the story was an endless blah-blah-blah with way too much pagefilling. Bad enough that the author introduces each and every character with their name - down to the penultimate secondary one and there are quite a lot - I really don't need to know how many wrinkles they have in the face or what clothes they wear, thank you very much.
Compared to the previous books, there was not much happening in this one either - okay two scenes roused me a bit from my doze, but since I don't even remember now what the second scene was, you might get my indifference here.
I also don't care about the marital problems of Miro's friends and the subject that view spoiler [Greg Hartley escaped again , not to say TWICE hide spoiler ] was just ridiculous. Because of Miro and Ian being sweet and hot together - well, when they didn't have some relationship problems and finally were together , that is - I'm giving it 2 stars, but I should maybe resign myself to the fact that Mary Calmes's writing is not really for me.
At least I finished it on my second try, thanks to the audiobook, and that's really something. As good as the blurb of Twisted and Tied sounds, I'm not sure yet if I will go on with this series View all 36 comments. Am I biased when it comes to these two? Hell yes. Like in any good series, the supporting cast over time has definitely lent to the complexity, fun factor, and overall enjoyment.
What always remains though, is how much Miro and Ian love each other. They might not agree on everything, they might not like the same things, but when it 5 Fabulous Stars!! They might not agree on everything, they might not like the same things, but when it comes down to it, their devotion shines through.
So what stands out for me this go around is just how passionate they are, how deeply and acutely felt their need for each other was. Calmes shows that perfectly through these two. Miro and Ian really grasp and acknowledge this here, and it was amazingly wonderful. Want more of it. Full Review to come closer to release -- An amazing story!! I hope there is a book 4!!! Reviewed by Jaime from Alpha Book Club You know how sometimes when you want something really, really badly and you have to wait a really long time for it, and you keep getting assured it's "coming soon", but you really want it now and then you get it and you're disappointed with the final product?
Yeah, you don't have to worry - the wait was worth it because Tristan James once again rocks this out! Ok, so I needed to wait a while to write this review because I was honestly too busy bouncing in my chair with excitement over this book.
Seriously, from practically the first page all hubby heard my muttering was "Ohmygod!!! I may die of happiness. Seriously if you can die of happiness I'm going to do this right now. I think he's come to 4. I think he's come to the conclusion that he can replace sex with a Mary Calmes book for me and I won't notice the difference. Now he just needs to figure out that it has to be Miro and Ian.
Miro and Ian I'm totally gaga over these two and this story This one just had it all. There was tough guy alpha stuff, guns were shot, people had knives and at one point I was left wondering 'if you're a cop and you pull over a car and the first thing that's said to you is 'I'm a US Marshal' what person in their right mind isn't going to say 'show me some ID' I mean come on common sense here and if that cop doesn't have common sense then I need to know 'who the hell gave him a gun?
I know I'm being really, really vague here but come on do you really want me to give details and spoil things? I think not. It's Mary Calmes and if you love her books like I do you know you're going to read this, hell even if my best friend in the whole world told me she hated this and that I shouldn't read it. I'd just look at her with sad eyes and say 'oh, you poor confused kitten' as I wandered off to read this Honestly I'm still bouncing in my chair thinking about this book and if I had the time I'd start reading it all over again right now.
On top of everything else there were some fabulous cameo's in this book and some of them were surprising to say the least There was one little tiny niggle at the end for me and while I didn't totally buy into it, somehow it still worked with the story so 4.

All this, it turns out, was a mere warm-up for the Obama years. On the surface, it appeared that Obama took office in a stronger position than Clinton had, since Democrats boasted more seats in the Senate. But in their jubilation, Democrats forgot something crucial: vicious-circle politics thrives on polarization. As the GOP caucus in the Senate shrank, it also hardened. Early on, the White House managed to persuade three Republicans to break a filibuster of its stimulus plan.
But one of those Republicans, Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter — under assault for his vote and facing a right-wing primary challenge — switched parties. That meant that of the six Senate Republicans with the most moderate voting records in , only two were still in the Senate, and in the party, by ' The Wednesday lunch club had ceased to exist. And the fewer Republican moderates there were, the more dangerous it was for any of them to cut deals across the aisle In recent years, Republicans have played this style of politics better than Democrats.
Winning elections by making government look foolish is a more natural strategy for the antigovernment party. But there's no guarantee Democrats won't one day try something similar.
